People in Zagreb like Harper. I sudyed only from stryer so I don't know which one is better.
In Serbia we study from some Serbian book. Harper is not very popular here. Many people is not satisfied with Harper. I have been studied from Devlin`s Biochemisty , and I`m very satisfied with that book.

I think the topics are the same in all the books, but the perspective is totally different. For example, Harper is good if you've already finished medicine and you need to repeat a part really fast. But for a medicine student, interested for basic research and molecular mechanisms, Stryer is a perfect compromise between medicine and basic science, so it's a lot better than other books. You use it if you want to understand the mechanisms. Of course, if you want to learn 'real' biochemistry, Lehniger is the only thing that can help you.
For the conclusion, advance levels go like this:
Harper - Stryer - Lehniger.
Since the medicine students need to learn applied science, again, thumbs up for Stryer.
(when I say Stryer, I don't mean the old edition translated to Croatian language, that's not a really good book, totally useless today)
